For the Ontario energy market, May marks the beginning of the 2023-2024 Base Period for IESO’s Industrial Conservation Initiative (ICI). ICI peaks will be reset, and the initial peaks will all be in May before they all eventually get displaced in the following higher demand months.
Forecasts, as well as history, indicate that no peaks are expected during this month. Temperatures slowly warm up, but remain cool, and days get longer. There is expected demand increase at the end of the month.
