Rodan Energy Enables One of North America’s Largest Battery Storage Projects

North America’s leading optimizer of grid-connected energy storage delivers managed dispatch and market integration services for Boralex’s 300 MW / 1,200 MWh Hagersville and 80 MW / 320 MWh Sanjgon projects

March 9, 2026 – Rodan Energy Solutions (Rodan), a leading optimizer of grid-connected battery energy storage systems (BESS) and other distributed energy resources (DERs) across North America, today announced that it has enabled the Hagersville Battery Energy Storage Park, developed by Boralex in partnership with Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation, to begin commercial operations in Ontario’s wholesale electricity market.

The Hagersville Battery Energy Storage Park is rated at 300 MW/ 1,200 MWh. Rodan also supports the Sanjgon Battery Energy Storage Facility, developed by Boralex in partnership with Walpole Island First Nation, rated at 80 MW/320 MWh, which was commissioned in January 2026. Combined, the two facilities represent 380 MW and 1,520 MWh of grid-scale storage operating in Ontario, making Boralex Canada’s largest BESS operator.

With 1,500 MW of assets under management and 30 BESS projects currently optimized across North America, Rodan has been at the forefront of grid-connected battery optimization since 2019. The company’s portfolio is growing rapidly as storage deployment accelerates across the continent.

Rodan’s optimization and managed service monitors for dispatch instructions around the clock and delivers operating direction to on-site control systems in real time. The service reduces the need for asset owners to build and maintain dedicated 24/7 ISO connectivity, allowing them to focus on asset performance while Rodan handles daily market execution. Rodan also completed telemetry and controls integration for the Boralex projects and provides ongoing Metering Service Provider (MSP) services, supporting market compliance and accurate settlements.

“We’ve built a depth of operational experience and market optimization capabilities that storage owners can rely on when assets enter ISO operations,” said Paul Grod, CEO of Rodan Energy Solutions. “We are pleased to support Boralex as one of North America’s largest battery storage operators.”

“Rodan Energy’s managed dispatch service helped enable IESO integration from day one. Their team worked with us to execute dispatch instructions reliably and meet operational requirements as we moved into commercial operations,” said David Estill, Program Director – Storage, Boralex.

Ontario is in the early stages of a significant buildout of grid-scale energy storage, driven by IESO procurement initiatives aimed at maintaining reliability as the province’s electricity demand grows. As more storage assets come online, the operational complexity of maintaining round-the-clock dispatch compliance increases and the ability to maximize revenues becomes more challenging.
