MISSISSAUGA, Ontario – April 15, 2021: The IESO has selected Rodan Energy Solutions to deliver energy efficiency initiatives as part of their recent energy efficiency (EE) auction.
The EE auction is a first-ever IESO pilot program with a unique new approach to incentivizing projects that will reduce peak electricity demand. Rodan was selected to deliver 1,400 kW of energy efficiency projects for winter capacity and 1,400 kW of projects for summer capacity. The complete April 9th announcement from the IESO, describing the auction and the participants, can be found on their website and linked here.
As Ontario’s leading provider of demand-side management solutions to commercial and industrial energy users, Rodan is pleased to add energy efficiency to its suite of intelligent energy savings opportunities. Rodan will leverage its extensive energy market program experience, measurement and verification capabilities, and extensive demand response expertise, to once again pioneer a new initiative in cooperation with IESO and large energy users across the province. The projects Rodan will manage as part of the EE pilot to achieve load reduction on the Ontario grid, include initiatives such as smart lighting retrofits with advanced wireless controls, electrical machinery upgrades and a variety of innovative EE solutions.
“We are pleased to offer our clients a new opportunity to reduce their energy costs while ensuring Ontario builds a sustainable energy future. It’s great to work with the IESO on yet another valuable initiative that further supports a resilient, efficient, and clean electricity system,” stated Paul Grod, Rodan’s President & CEO. “We welcome both large energy users and innovative solutions providers to partner with us. Every kW reduced is one less kW that needs to be generated.”
The EE Auction Pilot is a competitive and market-based approach to procuring EE resources in the most cost-effective manner. It is intended to complement the IESO’s existing suite of Save on Energy programs, which over the last decade have focused on driving cost-competitive and consumer-driven solutions to help meet electric system needs.
