Rodan Energy delivers significant reduction in electricity consumption for the Province of Ontario
Mississauga, ON, Sept 28th, 2017 – Alerts were issued September 25th & 26th by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) to reduce electricity consumption resulting from the extreme record-breaking temperatures in Ontario. Approximately 300,000 residential and small commercial smart thermostats and switches were activated by Rodan Energy to deliver significant reduction in power consumption. Rodan manages Ontario’s peaksaverPLUS program by remotely controlling participants’ thermostat and air conditioning devices. When activated, these systems deliver approximately 175 MW in electricity demand reduction in the Province of Ontario.
This conservation demand management program implemented by the IESO and Ontario’s local distribution companies, helps manage Ontario’s electricity use when Ontarians are consuming the greatest amount of electricity, as was the case over the past few days.
Once activated, Rodan Energy was able to provide demand savings to the Province, by leveraging its Network Operation Centre to support the IESO and Ontario’s utilities in operating a reliable and efficient demand response resource.
