MISSISSAUGA, Ontario – December 10, 2020 – The IESO released the results of its Summer Capacity Auction, awarding almost 250 MW of Ontario capacity to Rodan Energy Solutions, reinforcing Rodan as the largest demand response provider in the province. With approximately 992 MW of total energy capacity made available for bid by the IESO in this auction, today’s capacity allocation announcement increases Rodan’s position as the single largest contributor, responsible for almost 25% of the available MW capacity.
The Summer Obligation Period, running from May 1 to Oct 31, 2021, covers the time when the total demand for energy across Ontario is at its highest. The capacity auction is the IESO run program where energy producers and energy aggregators commit to an amount of MW burden that they will take from the Ontario grid when called upon. This is done by either supplying extra MWs or removing MWs of load from the grid.
